Cam Hooks

Cam hooks use applied physics to the climbers benefit.  The camming action transfers the weight of the climber into holding power using leverage.  The more weight that is hung from the hook the more holding power is generated.

“Pinched” tips and an overbent end provide great hooking action.  Thread with 9/16′ supertape preferably.  1/2″ webbing can be used but wears out quickly.

For a little speed try crack jumaring up a pitch.  Attach a cam hook or two  of the appropriate sizes to each aider and climb freestyle using “finger locks of steel”.  Place pro like you are free climbing and fly up to that cush belay in no time.

Patterned after Ed Leepers excellent original design.

Do not use micro cam hook in inverted placements.

Do not use cam hooks in soft sandstone!  They will blow the crack out.
